How can it be over?!?!??!?!
here's a video of our last day in the office... we're tired.
After 6 intense weeks of pre production, production, and post production, I'm more inspired than ever. I only just finally finished my film yesterday and already i'm ready to make another. I must be crazy.
It took a lot to get the the point of completion but now that i'm here it feels soooo good to have a piece of narrative I feel proud of and enjoy watching. I couldn’t have done this without the film queen herself Cameo, and my amazing producer Connie Jo who brought it all together (not to mention the INCREDIBLE location she found for me, thank you for suggesting your rooftop!!)
Watching my fellow interns grow as filmmakers was amazing. I'm really proud of us and everything we were able to accomplish. I love every single one of the films we made. We were a talented little gang, everyone is definitely going places. Through the hard work (and pain) we got each other through it with a lot of laughs and moral support and that really made the experience worth wild. COMRADERY IS SO IMPORTANT IN FILMMAKING. I learned that you can't do film alone. film is about collaboration and trusting others with your vision.
Cameo and Connie encouraged a lot of personal growth and independence. To survive this internship and the world of filmmaking, trusting your gut and vision is key, but also allowing yourself to be wrong and listening to the advice other give you is just as important.
YOU'VE GOT TO LOVE CRITICISM! this internship is 6 weeks of critiques and having others analyze your work. So if you're a future intern be prepared to have your work be constantly questioned. You might hate in it the moment, but in the end you'll be thankful it happened cuz it'll only make your work stronger.
Overall going back to school will feel like a break (yes college will feel like a vacation after this internship.) The lessons I learned here, work ethic, and technical understanding of filmmaking I gained at charming stranger films will stick with me as I continue to make films.
